The ICAI released an advisory and cautioned all the Chartered Accountants, students and public about the fake social media pages that are running illegally and having ICAI’s Name and logo.
Recently The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) come to know that on social media there are many fake accounts is being operated with its name and logo illegally and these pages are distributing various announcement and reference materials which solely belong to ICAI and exclusive comes under intellectual property rights (IPRs). These pages are also making fake posts which are objectionable and they are representing content as authenticated by ICAI. These all activities are misleading and creating confusion among people, members and students.
In the advisory ICAI also said that they have their own verified accounts on various social media platforms such as: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.

Rajesh Sehgal who is the acting Secretary of ICAI said that “the ICAI does not have any other social media accounts and if anybody claims or propagates that it is the social media account of ICAI, the public, Students and Members are advised to exercise caution and immediately bring it to the notice of the ICAI for necessary action. It is made clear that the information on the said fake social media pages have been posted/circulated without the knowledge and authority of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and you are advised not to be misled and confused by it”.
Rajesh Sehgal further added that “It may be noted that posting and forwarding fake and derogatory content on these Social Media Platforms is a violation of the law. Therefore, ICAI hereby warns such social media accounts and the persons controlling them to immediately cease and desist such platforms that are illegal and ICAI reserves the right to initiate appropriate coercive actions both under criminal as well as civil laws”.
With the advisory ICAI advised all the members, students, and public to not follow these types of fake social pages of ICAI on social media platforms.
