An important update for Chartered Accountants (CAs) working in companies has been declared by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). ICAI council has approved the issuance of tax invoices for the membership fees that will consist of the GSTIN of the member’s employer, if the company pays the membership fee. W.e.f April 1, 2026, the same new system shall start.
CA Akhil Pachori has shared the update on the X platform. The same decision shall support companies that file the membership fees of their employed CAs. Companies that have the employer’s GSTIN mentioned on the invoices will have appropriate tax documentation for their records and GST compliance.
Members Must Do
ICAI, in order to ensure the seamless working of the new system, sought the members of the industry to update their information on the Self Service Portal (SSP) before February 25, 2026.

Members should complete the steps below-
Update Employment Details: Submit or revise employment data with the use of the “Update Employment/Engagement Form” under the Member Functions section on the SSP.
Add Employer’s GSTIN: Post updating employment information, enter the GSTIN of the employer with the use of the “Update Your Profile” option under Member Functions.
ICAI recommended its members to complete these steps within the said time to prevent any delay in getting tax invoices in the subsequent fiscal year.
Members who have not updated their employment details till now are motivated to do the same as soon as possible to ensure seamless processing of their membership fee invoices.
