ICAI notice CA Professional Misconduct

The ICAI recently displaced a misconducting CA from the practice and barred him from the roles and duties for 6 months. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) found that the said CA was doing professional misconduct.

As per the Section 21(6)(c) of the Chartered Accountants Act, the High Court of Karnataka, 1949 stated on 29th November 2019 that a CA going by the name of Shri G. Gopala, Chartered Accountant, residing at the address No. 29 Sai Krishna, 4th Cross Ward No.185, Omshakthi Temple Road, Yelechanahalli, Bengaluru must be deducted from the Register of Members for a period of six months after the authorities got to know about his professional misconduct which was as per the Clauses (6), (7), (8) and (9) of Part I of Second Schedule and ‘Other Misconduct’ under Section 22 read with Section 21 of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.

“Therefore, in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 20 of the said Act read with Regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, it is hereby notified that the name of Shri G. Gopala stands removed from the Register of Members for a period of six months from the date of publication of this Notification in the Gazette of India. During the aforesaid period he shall not practice as a Chartered Accountant in terms of the said order of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka,” the notification said.
