Board of Studies of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on August 17, 2020, released Frequently Asked Questions w.r.t BOS (Academic) and Students Skills Enrichment Board (SSEB) which are engraved below.

FAQs w.r.t. BOS (Academic)

Q1. Will any extension be given to start practical training to enable students to appear in the November 2022 examinations?

Ans. No further extension has been given to start the Practical Training after July 31, 2020, thus students who qualified one/ both group(s) of intermediate in November 2019 and started the practical training on or before July 31, 2020, can appear in November 2022 Final Examination. 

Q2. Has the validity of the registration in the Foundation / Intermediate / Final course extended due to the merger of May 2020 exams with November 2020 examinations?

Ans. Yes, the validity of such registration will be extended and in the same matter, a notification will be released shortly.

Q3. Are IPCC / Final Old Course students allowed to convert to Intermediate / Final New?

Ans. Yes, they can convert to the intermediate/Final New course of the Revised Scheme of Education and Training at any time. 

Q4a. Will the eligibility criteria for provisionally registered students (who are in the final year of graduation) be relaxed through the direct entry for submission of mark sheets?

Ans.  There is no need for any such relaxation, Students can submit their graduation mark sheet in six months after appearing the final year of graduation.

Q4b (i). Can students in the final year of their graduation who are provisionally registered in the intermediate via the direct entry route, commence their practical training before confirming their registration in the intermediate?

Ans. Candidates can start their Practical training only after regularization of their registration in Intermediate.

Q4b (iI). Will there be any relaxation in eligibility criteria for students in the final year of their graduation who are provisionally registered in the intermediate via the direct entry route to appear in intermediate examinations in May 2021?

Ans. The matter is under consideration and the announcement will be made in the last week of August 2020.

Q5. May 2020 Examinations have been postponed and merged with November exams; thus whether students who were appearing in May exam have to follow the updates and amendments till October 2019 or till April 30, 2020?

Ans. All the Students who are appearing in November 2020 exam have to follow amendments updated on or before April 30, 2020.

Q6. Will the study material applicable for the November 2020 examinations be the same as was applicable for the May / July 2020 examinations?

Ans. Check the Study material for November 2020 exam on BOS Knowledge Portal at the Institute’s website.

Q7. What kind of support is being provided to students for preparation for the November 2020 exam at all levels?

Ans. Institute started Free ‘Virtual Coaching Classes from July 1st, 2020 at all levels. It is free, streaming live, can be accessed live or viewed later, for complete syllabus by experts, Interactive in nature, and examination focused approach.

OC/ITT COURSE

Q8. What exemptions do Foundation Route students and Direct Entry students have in completing OC / ITT courses?

Ans. “Foundation route students can start their Practical Training on or before 31st July 2020 and finish the Orientation Course and IT Training on or before 31st October 2020.  Whereas Direct Entry Students can commence their Practical Training on or before 31st July 2020 and complete Orientation Course and IT Training on or before 31st December 2020.”

Q9. Who can participate in OC / ITT classes being conducted through online mode from August 1, 2020?

Ans. All the eligible Students of Foundation and Direct Entry route students can join the course. They just have to register at https://www.icaionlineregistration.org.

MCS/Adv. ITT Course

Q10. “Are there any categories of students who are eligible for virtual MCS and advanced ITT courses as a one-time measure due to prevailing epidemic conditions?

Ans. Only students who have passed final exams in May or November 2019 or were appearing in July/ November 2020 exams own this one-time relaxation.

Q11. If students complete AICITSS virtually, will they have to take advanced IT tests?

Ans. Passing the Advanced IT Test is mandatory for all the students.
