ICAI Allowed Opt-Out Scheme Option for CA Exam May/June 2021

ICAI Opt-Out’ scheme for appearing

As per a recently released notification by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)  opt-out option is allowed for CA Exam May/ June 2021. The notification also provided details regarding the same.

ICAI also announced that the CA (Final, Intermediate/ IPC and PQC Courses) Examinations will be conducted from 5th July 2021 to 20th July 2021 and CA (Foundation) Examination on July 24th, 26th, 28th and 30th, 2021 from 2 PM to 5 PM (IST).

The notification states that if the examinee himself or his grandparents, parents, spouse, children and siblings (residing in the same campus) are infected with COVID-19, for such candidates “opt-out option” will be provided. With this the fee paid and the exemption is given will be a carryover for the November 2021 exam cycle.

The Institute laid down guidelines for the examinees to avail the opt-out facility.

Firstly, the opt-out option can be utilized after log-in into the examination portal and uploading (submitting) the Covid-19 positive RTPCR report along with the Aadhar card and self-declaration form (prescribed by ICAI).

Secondly, the examinee will have to submit the COVID-19 positive RTPCR report issued by a government recognized laboratory. (it needs to be noted that ICAI will verify such reports from the said laboratory. And if I find reports false or fabricated, strict action will be taken as per the decision of the committee).

Third, the candidate will have to submit his/her Aadhar card along with the infected relative’s Aadhar card of the, as the case may be.

Fourth, the examinees should note that the COVID-19 positive RTPCR report must be of any date from the date of issue of this announcement to the end of the examination of the course for which the candidate is intended to appear.

Fifth, those candidates who opted out from the May/July 2021 exam cycle can appear in their exam in the November 2021 exam cycle. The last attempt of the old syllabus for Final and Intermediate (IPC) examinations will be extended till the November 2021 examinations, but this is only for those students who are allowed to opt-out from the May/July 2021 examinations.

Sixth, if a student has opted out of any paper during the entire cycle of examination, he/she will not be allowed to appear for any remaining paper.

Finally, if a student has appeared for the first group and then exits before the conclusion of the examination of the last paper of the second group, the result of the first group will be declared and the opt-out option will be applicable to the second group only.
